The incident unfolded on Thursday, June 13, when Biloxi police received a call about a suspicious death at Merit Health Hospital. Upon arrival, officers were informed that 20-year-old Summer Rose Hill and 21-year-old Takavian Keivon Gibbs had brought their deceased infant to the emergency room.

Medical staff at the hospital discovered multiple injuries consistent with abuse during the initial examination. As a result, both Hill and Gibbs were arrested and initially charged with child abuse, each given a $500,000 bond. However, following an autopsy conducted on the victim on Tuesday, Hill’s charge was upgraded to capital murder. The autopsy revealed that the infant succumbed to injuries caused by blunt force trauma.
