On the evening of June 12, 2024, in the north-end sector of New Bedford, narcotics detectives Matthew Couture and Jonathan Miranda apprehended a wanted individual who was found in possession of a firearm and narcotics.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Jonathan Martinez from New Bedford, was spotted by the detectives while operating a vehicle with an active warrant. Upon pulling over the vehicle, Martinez was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of Martinez’s vehicle, detectives discovered a loaded 9 mm firearm in the center console, which he did not have a license for. Additionally, a baggie of crack cocaine was found in Martinez’s pocket.
Following the discovery of the gun and narcotics, Martinez was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm, possession of crack cocaine, and the original warrant that led to his arrest.
