A Topeka man, identified as Matthew Allender, 41, suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Wednesday afternoon in Johnson County, Kansas.

The incident took place at 12:34 p.m. on K-10 highway, approximately one mile west of the K-7 highway interchange.

According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV was travelling eastbound on K-10 in the right lane when it veered off the road without any signs of acceleration or braking.

After drifting off the roadway, the vehicle collided with a small rocky hill, causing it to overturn multiple times.

During the rollover, Allender was ejected from the SUV. He was rushed to Overland Park Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for his serious injuries.

It was noted by the patrol that Allender, who was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash, was not wearing a seat belt.

The authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances that led to the rollover crash.

The safety of all road users, especially the importance of wearing seat belts, is being emphasised by the Kansas Highway Patrol in light of this incident.
