A man has been taken into custody in connection with a spate of armed robberies that occurred multiple times at the same locations in April 2024, as per the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect faces two charges of first-degree armed robbery after being apprehended for committing several robberies on June 14. Subsequently, he has been charged with four additional counts of first-degree armed robbery for incidents that occurred in April 2024.

The first robbery took place on April 8 at a Starbucks located inside the Safeway at 13023 Northeast Highway 99. The perpetrator, described as a white male with blue eyes wearing a black surgical-style mask, brandished a large knife resembling a fillet or long paring knife. He demanded money from the cash register and fled the scene on foot.

A similar incident occurred on April 9 at a Target on Mill Plain Boulevard, with a man matching the description of the previous robbery.

On April 11, another robbery occurred at the same Safeway location, where the suspect entered the Starbucks, approached the register with a knife, and demanded all the money in the till. An employee attempted to intervene, but the suspect pushed her to the ground, causing her to hit her head on a metal rail. Witnesses identified the perpetrator as the same individual from the previous week’s robbery.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured the suspect leaving on foot and heading behind the store. A white 2003-2005 Honda Pilot was also seen leaving the area shortly after.

On the same day, a Walgreens at 8511 Northeast 162nd Avenue reported a robbery at knifepoint, where a man entered the store, approached the cash register with a knife, and demanded money. The suspect’s description matched that of the previous robberies.

Another robbery occurred on May 24 at the same Walgreens, where the suspect brandished a knife and demanded money from the cash register. The description and mask of the perpetrator matched those from previous incidents. A white Honda Pilot similar to the one seen at the previous robbery was observed arriving before and leaving after the robbery.

On June 14, Vancouver Police responded to multiple armed robberies and apprehended a suspect driving a white Honda Pilot matching the description of the man involved in the previous robberies.

The suspect, identified as 56-year-old Shawn Short of Vancouver, was taken into custody and booked for two counts of first-degree robbery related to the June 14 incidents. The Honda Pilot was seized for further investigation.

On June 15, Short was charged with four additional counts of first-degree robbery and one count of second-degree assault for the aforementioned crimes. He appeared in court for the first time on Monday, with his arraignment scheduled for July 1.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward. No further details have been disclosed at this time.
