SURPRISE, Ariz. – The baby who was injured in a tragic shooting incident in Surprise last month is showing signs of improvement.
According to police reports, seven-month-old Jaxson was shot multiple times on May 17 by his father during a domestic violence altercation. The incident resulted in the father taking his own life and the house they were in catching fire.
Jaxson, who sustained injuries to his lower extremities, has undergone several surgeries since the incident. However, his condition seems to be improving as his grandfather recently shared new photos of the baby looking bright-eyed and smiling.
If all goes well, Jaxson is expected to be discharged from the hospital by the end of July. He has already undergone at least four major surgeries since being admitted on May 17.
Investigators have identified the father as 51-year-old Todd Christopher Marcheti, who allegedly broke into the child’s mother’s home with a machete in the early hours of the morning and prevented them from leaving.
