A young man, identified as 26-year-old Alex Hamilton, tragically lost his life after being shot in an Oceanside apartment in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at a complex on College Boulevard, just off Aztec Street, in the northern part of Oceanside. Hamilton, who was visiting residents at the apartment, was struck in the head when a bullet was fired through a bedroom window around 1:10 a.m. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Police Investigation
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but as of now, no suspect information has been released. Police Lieutenant Bill Weese stated that they are following up on several leads but did not provide any details on what may have led to the tragic incident.
“I can confirm that Hamilton was a visitor at the apartment where the shooting took place,” Weese said. He added that the victim was awake in the bedroom at the time of the incident.
According to police spokesperson Tom Bussey, the fatal shot was fired from the sidewalk outside the apartment, piercing the window and hitting Hamilton. In response, other individuals inside the apartment sought refuge in a bathroom for their safety.
