Accident – Death – Obituary News :

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A 19-year-old USC student was taken into custody on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing incident involving a homeless man on Monday night in the vicinity of the university’s Greek Row.

The suspect, identified as Ivan Gallegos, a resident of Los Angeles, was apprehended by authorities and is currently facing murder charges. He is being held on a bail amount of $2 million.

The incident took place at approximately 8:15 p.m. near the 700 block of West 28th Street, as reported by the Los Angeles Police Department in an official statement.

According to LAPD officials, Gallegos allegedly caught the homeless man breaking into his car in the rear parking lot of his fraternity house. The homeless man purportedly threatened the student with a gun, prompting Gallegos to stab him in self-defence, Acting LAPD Chief Dominic Choi revealed during a briefing to the Police Commission on Tuesday.

Upon arrival at the scene, responding officers discovered the victim, a 27-year-old male, who had sustained fatal injuries following a confrontation with two other individuals. The victim was pronounced dead on-site, and his identity has not yet been disclosed.

Gallegos cooperated with law enforcement and was taken into custody without resistance. The other two individuals involved in the altercation were questioned and subsequently released.

In an exclusive interview with Eyewitness News, a female representative of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity confirmed that Gallegos is a student at USC and a member of their fraternity. She chose to remain anonymous but disclosed that Gallegos is the individual apprehended by authorities in connection with the tragic incident.

Last month, USC’s Annenberg Media featured a profile on Gallegos, portraying him as a budding music artist pursuing studies at the prestigious Marshall School of Business.
