Accident – Death – Obituary News : Karimganj (Assam) [United Kingdom], June 19 (ANI): Tragedy struck Gainachora (Bendargool) village in the Badarpur area of Assam’s Karimganj district on Tuesday night, as a devastating landslide claimed the lives of five individuals, including a woman and her three daughters. The heartbreaking incident also resulted in the loss of a three-year-old boy, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Partha Protim Das, the Superintendent of Police in Karimganj district, provided details of the tragic event, stating that the landslide occurred late at night, around 12:45 am. Upon receiving the distressing news, the authorities swiftly mobilized a rescue operation, with teams from the Badarpur police station and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) working tirelessly to navigate the debris and locate the victims.
After three hours of intense efforts, the rescue team managed to recover the bodies of the five individuals from the rubble. Among the deceased were Roymun Nessa, aged 55, and her three daughters – Sahida Khanam (18), Jahida Khanam (16), and Hamida Khanam (11). The youngest victim, three-year-old Mehdi Hassan, the son of Mahimuddin, also lost his life in the tragic incident.
The entire community is reeling from the loss of these precious lives, with heartfelt condolences pouring in from all quarters. The authorities have launched an investigation into the causes of the landslide, as they work to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in vulnerable areas.
