Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In Denton, Texas, a tragic incident has led to the arrest of 31-year-old Pedro Martinez on murder charges. The City of Denton has revealed that Martinez is accused of selling fentanyl to his coworker, resulting in a fatal overdose.

The incident took place on January 21, when authorities responded to a call about an unconscious man at the 500 block of Inman Street. The man, identified as 26-year-old Dylan King, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that King’s cause of death was a combination of cocaine and fentanyl toxicity.

Following an investigation by the Denton Police Department, it was discovered that King had obtained the drugs containing fentanyl from his coworker, Pedro Martinez. Martinez, who was already in Denton County Jail on other charges, confessed to selling the drugs to King and admitted to being aware of the presence of fentanyl in them.

On June 18, detectives obtained a warrant for Martinez’s arrest on a murder charge. This marks the fifth fentanyl-related murder charge in Denton since a new state law came into effect on September 1, 2023. Currently, Martinez is being held in Denton County Jail with no bail set.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with illicit drug use and the severe consequences that can result from the distribution of substances like fentanyl. The City of Denton is committed to holding accountable those who engage in such activities and endanger the lives of others.
