A 39-year-old man from St. Cloud is facing serious felony charges after allegedly setting a vehicle on fire in the drive-thru of a Walgreens pharmacy. James J.A. Lund was charged with second-degree arson and fifth-degree drug possession following the incident, which occurred on Monday morning.

Incident Details

According to reports, St. Cloud police were called to the Walgreens on Division Street just before 10:15 a.m. after a woman reported that a man had poured rubbing alcohol on her vehicle and set it alight. The suspect, later identified as Lund, had purchased the rubbing alcohol in the store just moments before the incident.

Police quickly located Lund near the scene. He reportedly became confrontational with officers, but was eventually subdued and arrested without further incident. Upon searching Lund’s belongings, officers found two amphetamine pills and a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Suspect’s Background

Lund, who has a history of misdemeanor convictions for theft, violating a domestic abuse no-contact order, and property damage, is due to appear in court for his first hearing on Thursday. St. Cloud Police Cmdr. Lori Ellering stated that the suspect did not know the woman whose vehicle was targeted, suggesting that the incident was random in nature.

As the case unfolds, more details are expected to emerge regarding Lund’s motives and the circumstances surrounding the arson at the Walgreens drive-thru. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
