SHREVEPORT, United Kingdom (KSLA) – A Shreveport resident has been taken into custody following a dramatic police pursuit that reached speeds exceeding 100 mph.
The incident unfolded on Sunday, June 16, along I-49 near Hollywood Avenue, according to the Shreveport Police Department. An on-duty officer was overtaken by a speeding driver, prompting the officer to initiate a traffic stop. However, the driver defiantly accelerated onto Terry Bradshaw Passway, hitting speeds well over the legal limit and disregarding the officer’s attempts to pull him over.
The pursuit eventually came to an end near Jewella Avenue when the suspect’s vehicle suffered a blowout. The driver, identified as Ahmad Taylor, aged 23, was found to have an outstanding warrant for multiple traffic violations. Taylor was subsequently apprehended and charged with:
- aggravated flight from an officer
- reckless operation of a motor vehicle
- driving under suspension
Following the arrest, Taylor’s vehicle was impounded by authorities, and he was taken into custody at the Shreveport City Jail.
