After years of being left unsolved, a 2014 murder case in Port Arthur, Texas, has seen a breakthrough after Detective L. Thomas decided to reopen the investigation. Last Friday, 47-year-old Damond Lewis walked into the Port Arthur Police station and confessed to the murder of 29-year-old Eric Noel.
Shots Fired
The incident unfolded when Detective E.S. Thomason and his team were investigating a call in the vicinity. Suddenly, multiple shots were fired in close proximity to them, prompting them to rush to the scene. They discovered Eric Noel, who had been shot multiple times, lying in the street.
Despite his severe injuries, Noel was still alive when Detective Thomason arrived. The detective attempted to communicate with the victim, but Noel’s responses were barely audible. Tragically, Noel succumbed to his wounds at the hospital, without being able to provide any further information.
Confession
According to witness statements, Noel was involved in a disturbance at BJ’s convenience store prior to the shooting. The case remained unsolved until Detective L. Thomas decided to revisit it. Shortly after reopening the investigation, Damond Lewis walked into the police station and confessed to the crime.
Lewis corroborated details provided by witnesses and admitted to tracking down Noel and shooting him. Detective Thomas affirmed that Lewis appeared to be of sound mind and body during his confession. The case is still developing, and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
