TELL CITY, Ind. (WFIE) – Authorities in Tell City apprehended a man and a woman following reports of suspicious behaviour at a nearby store. The Tell City Police Department received a tip-off on Sunday, alerting them to the purchase of items commonly associated with the production of methamphetamine.
The suspects, identified as Paul James, 53, and Amanda Brown, 40, left the store before law enforcement could reach the scene. Surveillance footage later confirmed that James and Brown had purchased the items before departing in a vehicle.
After tracing the vehicle to a residence on Old State Road 37, close to the Lilly Dale Church of Christ, officers obtained a search warrant for the property. Upon execution of the warrant, authorities discovered a cache of contraband, firearms, and materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Both James and Brown were taken into custody and booked at the Perry County Detention Center. The specific items acquired by the suspects were not disclosed by the police. Charges brought against the duo include:
- Manufacture of Methamphetamine while in possession of a firearm
- Possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm
- Possession of Paraphernalia
- Possession of Drug Precursors with Intent to Manufacture and while in Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe
In addition to the aforementioned charges, James faces an additional charge of battery on law enforcement.
