The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has been rocked by the arrest of one of its own sergeants on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child. The sergeant in question has been identified as 38-year-old Jeremy Chapman from Spencer, Wis.

According to a recent press release from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest took place on June 12, 2024, following a search of a residence in the Village of Spencer as part of an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.

The individual arrested was revealed to be a sergeant within the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, adding a layer of shock and dismay to the community.

After being taken into custody, the suspect was booked into the Taylor County Jail on charges that include sexual exploitation of a child, child enticement, threats to injure or accuse of a crime, and threats to communicate derogatory information.

Following a bond hearing, the suspect was granted release on a $2,500 cash bond along with a $10,000 signature bond. This decision has raised concerns among residents and law enforcement officials alike.
