LOWELL, Mass. — Authorities in Massachusetts have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl in Lowell. The incident occurred just hours before the victim was set to attend her middle school graduation ceremony.

Trevor Bady has been charged with murder, armed home invasion, unlawful possession of a firearm, and other related charges. During his arraignment, not guilty pleas were entered on his behalf. Bady’s court-appointed attorney declined to comment on the case following the hearing.

The victim, Ahliana Dickey, a resident of Lowell, was expected to participate in her eighth-grade graduation on June 14. However, she failed to appear at the event. Concerned family members contacted the authorities after discovering Dickey’s body inside her home. She had sustained gunshot wounds.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan revealed during a press conference that Bady had been in a relationship with Dickey for some time prior to the tragic incident.

Police were alerted to a disturbance in the early hours of June 14, with reports of a male and female engaged in a physical altercation outside. Witnesses heard Dickey pleading for help and expressing her desire to end the relationship. Gunshots were also reported at the scene.

Despite responding to the initial call, law enforcement officers were unable to locate any individuals. Surveillance footage obtained from the area depicted Dickey calling out for assistance shortly before midnight, followed by Bady leaving her residence soon after. It was discovered that Bady had used an Uber to travel to and from Dickey’s home before and after the shooting. The driver was able to identify him as a passenger.
