Authorities in central Wisconsin have reported the arrest of a man for his fourth Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) offense after drugs were discovered in his vehicle following a crash in Fountain Prairie.

Details of the Incident

According to a statement from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place on June 17 at around 4 p.m. A call came in reporting a vehicle had collided with a tree on Hwy 146 and Shady Lane Road. The driver was reportedly found slumped over the steering wheel.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found the driver conscious but semi-alert. They observed signs indicating that the driver was under the influence of illicit drugs.

OWI Investigation

Following an OWI investigation, law enforcement officials confirmed that the driver was indeed intoxicated. A K9 unit was deployed and detected the presence of a trained narcotic odor.

Subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of fentanyl, kratom, and drug paraphernalia. The driver, identified as a 53-year-old man from Beaver Dam, was taken into custody on multiple charges.
