A tragic incident unfolded in New Jersey as 29-year-old Jasvir Kaur was ruthlessly shot seven times in the face by the accused, Gaurav Singh Gill. The shooting took place in Carteret, New Jersey, where Jasvir lost her life while her cousin, Gagandeep, sustained critical injuries.
It was reported that Gaurav Gill, a Punjabi teenager who had recently arrived in the United States and was residing in Kent, Washington, opened fire on Jasvir and Gagandeep outside a residential building in Carteret. The attacker was apprehended by the police shortly after the incident.
Gaurav Gill and Gagandeep Kaur had known each other from their time at an IELTS coaching centre in Nakodar, Punjab. Jasvir Kaur, originally from Gorsian, a village near Nurmahal in Punjab, had been working at Amazon’s facility in Carteret. Her husband, a car driver, was not present during the tragic event.
According to Jasvir’s father, Kewal Singh, Gagandeep sought Jasvir’s help during an argument with the accused, which led to the fatal shooting. Both Jasvir and her husband had been very supportive of Gagandeep, who had recently arrived in the US on a study visa.
Gill has been charged with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and attempted murder. He appeared before Judge Gary Price at Middlesex County Court for his initial court appearance.
