Giedrius Gasiunas, a 44-year-old resident of Ballinode, County Monaghan, appeared before Enniskillen Magistrates Court in relation to the incident near Fermanagh. The child involved reported being approached by two men in a car, with the driver attempting to grab him before becoming aggressive. The child managed to break free and provide a description of the car, leading to the identification of Gasiunas.
Despite denying the charge of attempted abduction, Gasiunas was remanded in custody by Judge Lanan McSorley due to concerns of absconding. The accused claimed he had offered the boy a lift for a fishing trip, explaining the presence of fishing equipment, clothing, bedding, and food in the car.
