Nicole Dawn Yazzie : “Mother Accused of Leaving 4-Year-Old in Hot Car Sparks Outrage”

A woman in Mesa, Arizona is facing serious legal consequences after allegedly leaving her 4-year-old daughter locked inside a hot car while she went shopping at a local store during extreme heat on Saturday.

According to court documents, concerned passersby noticed the young girl trapped inside the car with the windows closed and the engine turned off around 7:45 p.m. at a shopping center near Stapley Drive and Southern Avenue in Mesa. The witnesses immediately contacted the police for assistance.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found the mother, identified as Nicole Dawn Yazzie, exiting a store and unlocking the car to rescue her daughter. The child, who was visibly sweating profusely, was swiftly removed from the vehicle.

The court records indicated that the young victim appeared disoriented, pale, and had apparently urinated on herself. She was dressed in a short-sleeved shirt and long cotton trousers, as described by the attending officer.

With the outside temperature soaring to 110 degrees, the police determined that it was a scorching 129 degrees inside the car, as documented in the legal paperwork.

Following the rescue, the child received water and medical attention at the scene before being transferred to an air-conditioned police vehicle for further care.

In a shocking revelation, Yazzie reportedly confessed to intentionally leaving her daughter in the car because she did not want the child to accompany her into the store. Furthermore, she admitted to neglecting to start the car’s engine as she feared her daughter might attempt to drive away, according to the police account.

Yazzie acknowledged that her actions were inappropriate and harmful to her daughter, as outlined in the court documents.

As a result of her actions, Yazzie has been charged with one count of child abuse and her bail has been set at £15,000.
