Emergency responders were called to the scene at 6771 NC 751 around 11:43 p.m. after receiving reports of a potential drowning. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Pradip Kumar Bhujel, hailing from Charlotte.

Mr. Bhujel was enjoying a fishing outing at Jordan Lake with his friends when the incident occurred. Eyewitnesses reported that he entered the water and then suddenly disappeared from sight. His friends quickly raised the alarm, prompting a swift response from various emergency services, including the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, North Chatham Volunteer Fire Department, FirstHealth EMS, and the medical examiner’s office.

Upon arriving at the scene, search efforts were focused on the area where Mr. Bhujel was last seen. Tragically, his body was located and he was pronounced deceased on-site. The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the medical examiner, is now delving into the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
