Bengaluru: A tragic incident has unfolded in the town of KGF in Kolar district, located approximately 66.2 km away from Bengaluru. A 20-year-old college student, identified as Pavana, was found lifeless in her hostel room on Sunday night. Pavana, a first-year BSc student at Maharani Cluster University, is believed to have taken her own life after falling prey to a cybercrime scam.

Initial investigations conducted by the police have revealed that Pavana was discovered hanging in her room by the hostel staff around midnight. A handwritten suicide note, penned by Pavana herself, was found beside her, providing insight into the circumstances that led to her tragic decision.

In the heartfelt letter, Pavana, the daughter of a bus conductor, confessed to losing a substantial amount of money in a cybercrime scheme. She disclosed that she had borrowed around Rs 15,000 from her friends and had managed to repay Rs 10,000. However, she expressed her anguish over being unable to settle the remaining amount, highlighting the financial burden she had inadvertently placed on herself. This information was reported by TOI.

In a plea addressed to her parents, Pavana listed the names of her friends to whom she owed money and urged her parents to clear the debt on her behalf.

Regarding the ongoing investigation, a police official commented, “We are still determining the nature of the cybercrime that led to her financial loss. Her mobile phone is locked, and we require assistance from experts to unlock it and review her online transactions.” It has been reported that Pavana was alone in her room at the time of the incident, as her friends had left for the weekend.
