Accident – Death – Obituary News : LOWELL, MASS. (WHDH) – A Tewksbury man has been apprehended and charged with the tragic shooting of a 15-year-old girl in her residence in Lowell, as disclosed by the Middlesex District Attorney’s office.
Trevor Bady, aged 21, was taken into police custody on Monday, following the discovery of Ahliana Dickey, 15, with fatal gunshot wounds on Friday. Authorities revealed that Dickey had been in an abusive relationship with Bady.
On the day of the incident, Dickey was expected to attend her eighth-grade graduation ceremony. When she failed to appear, her family grew concerned and set out to search for her. Eventually, they reached her home on Lawrence Street, where Dickey’s grandmother made a distress call to the police at approximately 6:10 p.m., expressing fear that her granddaughter may have met a tragic fate.
Upon entering the premises, investigators found Dickey lying on the bedroom floor with visible gunshot wounds. The scene was further marred by the presence of numerous shell casings, indicating a violent altercation had taken place.
According to a statement released by the DA’s office, it was revealed that the victim had been subjected to physical abuse and threats by Bady in the past. In a chilling turn of events, a neighbour reported hearing a heated altercation followed by gunshots outside Dickey’s residence in the early hours of Friday. However, upon the arrival of law enforcement officials, no one was found at the scene.
Surveillance footage from the neighbourhood captured Dickey’s desperate cries for help shortly before midnight, followed by the sight of a man, believed to be Bady, exiting her home post-midnight. Further investigation uncovered that Bady had utilised an Uber service to commute to and from Dickey’s residence before and after the shooting. The Uber driver, concerned by Bady’s suspicious behaviour, reported the incident to authorities.
Subsequently, Bady was apprehended at a residence in Peabody on Monday. He now faces a slew of charges including murder, armed home invasion, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, use of a firearm during a felony, and discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
Bady is set to appear for his arraignment at Lowell District Court on Tuesday, as the investigation into the shooting continues to unfold..
