In a tragic incident in Detroit, two teenagers, Barry Love, 15, and Anthony Carter, 16, both from Detroit, have been charged as adults in connection with the robbery and fatal shooting of another teen. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced that the two teenagers are facing charges of felony murder, armed robbery, and felony firearm.

The incident took place near Bedford Street and Edsel Ford, approximately 1.5 miles from East English Village Preparatory Academy, at 3:53 p.m. on May 22. Detroit police responded to the scene and found the victim, identified as East English sophomore Elijah Reese, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Despite the efforts of medics, Reese was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is alleged that Love and Carter robbed Reese as he was walking around King Richard Street and Bedford Street before fatally shooting him and fleeing the scene. The two teenagers were arrested on June 6 and arraigned on June 13. Love was given a bond of £1 million, while Carter’s bond was set at £200,000.

A probable cause conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on June 21, with the preliminary examination set for 1:45 p.m. on June 27.

This tragic incident has shocked the community and raised concerns about the safety of students walking home from school. The authorities are working diligently to ensure that justice is served in this case, and the families of the victim and the accused teenagers are going through a difficult time.
