RIO HONDO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man has been apprehended for allegedly supplying alcohol to a minor, as per the authorities.
Angel Javier Jaime, aged 26, has been charged with providing alcohol to a minor, according to a press release from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a welfare concern at a residence in Rio Hondo at 4 a.m. on June 8, following a distress call.
Upon arrival, deputies conversed with the reporting party who stated that her daughter had messaged her on Snapchat requesting to be picked up as she felt “uncomfortable.” The mother promptly retrieved her daughter from the residence situated at FM 2925 upon receiving the distressing message.
The girl informed deputies that a man, later identified as Jaime, had made inappropriate sexual remarks and requests via Snapchat, as per the release.
Following a preliminary investigation into the alleged offense, deputies concluded that Angel Javier Jaime had contravened Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code 106.06, pertaining to Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor, the Cameron County deputies disclosed.
It was determined that the minor had consumed a “Twisted Tea”, an alcoholic beverage, at some point during the night. When questioned by deputies about his awareness of the minor drinking alcohol, Jaime confirmed his knowledge.
Jaime was taken into custody and remanded to Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center.
Authorities have also revealed that a separate alleged offense is presently under investigation.
