Mumbai, Jun 16 (PTI) – In a recent development, the Mumbai Police have registered a new case related to the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in April. They have arrested a 25-year-old man from Rajasthan on charges of criminal intimidation. The accused, identified as Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar from Bundi, Rajasthan, was brought to Mumbai and remanded in police custody till June 18 by a court, as confirmed by a Crime Branch official.

The arrest was made after Gujar uploaded a threatening video on his YouTube channel, where he claimed to have connections with notorious gang members such as Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. In the video, he explicitly stated his intention to harm Salman Khan for not issuing an apology. The video was filmed on a highway in Rajasthan and later shared on his channel.

Due to the severity of the threat, a team was dispatched to Rajasthan to investigate the matter further. The accused was apprehended and brought back to Mumbai, where the case was registered at a cyber police station. The police are currently looking into Gujar’s background to determine if he has any previous criminal records. He has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 506(2) (punishment for criminal intimidation), and the Information Technology (IT) Act. The investigation is ongoing to gather more evidence and details.

The firing incident outside Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra on April 14 involved two motorbike-borne assailants who fired multiple rounds. Six individuals were arrested in connection with the case, with one of them, Anuj Thapan, tragically taking his own life in police custody on May 1.

Separately, the Navi Mumbai Police had apprehended five individuals, including a suspected member of the Bishnoi and Brar gangs from Haryana, in relation to a plot to attack Salman Khan. It was revealed that four gang members had conducted surveillance on Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel, as well as areas around his residence in Bandra and locations where he was filming.

Lawrence Bishnoi, a key figure in the case, is currently incarcerated at the Sabarmati Central Prison in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, for a separate offence. The Mumbai Police are planning to seek his custody for further questioning. Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol, who is believed to be in Canada, is also wanted in connection with the firing incident.
