A security guard was severely injured after being hit by a goods train near the Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) premises in Lakhanpur Block of Jharsuguda district late on Saturday night.
The victim, identified as 48-year-old Manadhar Sa from Jamuna village, sustained critical injuries to his leg, hand, and head in the incident that took place around 11 PM on the railway tracks near the Kusraloi area, as per sources.
Sa, who was employed by the private security firm GDX at the OPGC plant, suffered the injuries due to the negligence and poor lighting on the OPGC freight train, resulting in low visibility on the tracks. Unfortunately, one of Sa’s legs was severed in the accident.
Following the accident, Sa was promptly taken to the Belapahad TRL Hospital for immediate medical attention. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to the Burla Hospital for further treatment. His current condition remains critical.
