Chicago: Nine Injured in Rochester Hills Water Park Shooting

Authorities in the US state of Michigan have reported that at least nine individuals sustained injuries following a shooting incident at a water park in Rochester Hills, located in the northern suburbs of Detroit.

The disturbing episode unfolded around 5 p.m. on Saturday when a lone gunman, described as acting randomly, emerged from a vehicle and discharged 28 rounds from a handgun, as per statements made by Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard during a press briefing.

Sheriff Bouchard revealed that there were “nine, maybe 10, victims with varying degrees of injuries,” noting that the casualties spanned different age demographics, with the youngest victim identified as an eight-year-old.

The suspect was swiftly contained within a residence situated half a mile from the water park, with law enforcement officers successfully apprehending the individual. Upon inspecting the scene, authorities recovered a 9-mm handgun along with three magazines.

Following the incident, a public emergency alert was issued on Saturday evening, advising residents in Rochester Hills to exercise caution due to an “active shooter” situation and advising them to steer clear of the area while seeking shelter.
