(Source: KRON) – A suspected thief reportedly spat in the face of a police officer while being apprehended in Colma, as stated by the Colma Police Department.

Incident Details

On June 7, at 3:53 p.m., Colma police officers were called to the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard following a theft incident at a retail establishment. The suspect, who was known to authorities for previous theft offences, had allegedly stolen multiple items and attempted to flee the store.

Upon arrival, officers positioned themselves outside the store to intercept the suspect as he exited. Despite attempts to evade capture, the suspect was eventually apprehended after a brief chase on foot.

Altercation and Arrest

During the process of being handcuffed, the suspect resisted the officers’ efforts and spat in the face of one of them. The situation escalated as the suspect continued to be combative, spitting at the officers and making threats of violence towards them.

Law enforcement managed to restrain the suspect, who was later identified as a 19-year-old resident of San Bruno. He was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges of resisting a peace officer with threats of violence or force, resisting a peace officer, and petty theft.
