Ramya Venkatesh : “Mother Kills Autistic Child, Surrenders”

Bengaluru: A heart-wrenching incident has shaken the city of Bengaluru as a 35-year-old mother, identified as Ramya Venkatesh, is accused of strangling her 3-year-old autistic daughter to death. The horrific event unfolded on June 13 in South Bengaluru’s Subramanyapura, leaving the community in disbelief.

According to reports, Ramya took this extreme step because she was allegedly unhappy with her daughter’s medical condition and felt overwhelmed by the challenges of raising an autistic child. Unable to cope with the emotional and financial burden, she made the tragic decision to end her daughter’s life.

Ramya lived with her twin daughters in a private apartment complex in Manjunatha Nagar. She had recently quit her job to dedicate more time to her children. Meanwhile, her husband, Venkatesh, works as a software engineer in Norway, leaving Ramya to handle the responsibilities of caring for their daughters alone.

This incident is reminiscent of a similar tragedy that occurred in Bengaluru just five months ago when a 39-year-old AI startup CEO, Suchan Seth, strangled her 4-year-old son in Goa. Suchana Seth committed the heinous act at an apartment in Candolim, Goa, in January of this year. Reports suggest that Seth’s strained relationship with her ex-husband may have played a role in her decision to take her son’s life.

These distressing incidents serve as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by parents of children with special needs and the importance of providing support and resources to families in such situations.
