A male suspect has been charged with murder in connection with a deadly stabbing incident that occurred in Costa Mesa earlier this week. Israel Antonio Valencia, aged 25, is facing charges of murder and a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon after allegedly taking the life of a 22-year-old man on Tuesday.
The Costa Mesa Police Department received a distress call and promptly dispatched officers to the 1700 block of Placentia Avenue at approximately 11 p.m. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the lifeless body of a male victim at the scene, who has not yet been officially identified.
During the course of their investigation, authorities uncovered another victim, a 19-year-old male, who had been assaulted in the vicinity of Placentia Avenue and Shalimar Drive earlier that evening. This victim was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital by family members. Investigators believe that both attacks were carried out by the same suspect.
Additional Arrest Made in the Case
Alongside Valencia, an 18-year-old male identified as Christopher Matthew Pena was also taken into custody by law enforcement officials. However, Pena was not charged alongside Valencia during the initial proceedings on Friday.
