JOHOR BARU – In a dramatic turn of events, two male suspects, who were high on the police’s wanted list, were killed after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officials along Jalan Abad in Century Garden yesterday.

Johor police chief M. Kumar confirmed that the incident took place at 5.04pm when the suspects were travelling in a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

One of the suspects, a 42-year-old with a criminal record involving illicit drugs, was positively identified. The identity of his accomplice, who did not possess any form of identification, is still under verification.

The fatal encounter occurred as a joint federal-state police Criminal Investigation Department team, comprising operatives from the Organised Crime Investigation Division and Serious Crimes Division, were monitoring the suspicious activities of the suspects in a Toyota Estima MPV.

Upon realizing they were being trailed, the suspects attempted to flee, firing shots at the police vehicle in pursuit. In self-defence, the police team returned fire, ultimately neutralizing the threat.

Following the exchange, the lifeless bodies of the suspects were discovered inside their vehicle, along with two pistols and various substances suspected to be illicit narcotics.
