On Thursday, June 13, in Dorchester, Boston, a routine traffic stop led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a firearm by the Boston Police Department.
At approximately 4:40 p.m., officers from District B-3 were patrolling near the intersection of Blue Hill Ave. and Harvard St. when they observed a Toyota Corolla with heavily tinted windows.
Upon pulling over the vehicle at the corner of Blue Hill Ave. and Paxton St., officers approached the car and engaged with the occupants.
The driver, identified as 26-year-old Quiana Bradley-Smith from Lynn, presented a driver’s license that was later discovered to be suspended during a subsequent check.
Meanwhile, the rear passenger, 33-year-old Kyle Lee from Mattapan, exhibited suspicious behaviour that raised concerns about the presence of a weapon.
Further investigation revealed a knife on Lee’s person and a Glock 29 Gen 4 10mm auto handgun under the front passenger seat. The firearm was loaded with one round in the chamber and a 15-round magazine.
Detectives from B-3 were called to the scene to verify the details of the seized firearm.
Legal Actions
Bradley-Smith was taken into custody and is set to appear in Dorchester District Court to face charges of driving with a suspended license. Additionally, she received a citation for obstructing visibility with nontransparent window tinting.
Lee is facing multiple charges, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm and ammunition without the necessary Firearm Identification (FID) card, and possession of a firearm with prior violent and/or drug-related offenses.
Both individuals are currently awaiting their respective court proceedings.
