Accident – Death – Obituary News : Kentucky State Police have made a grim discovery during their search for missing 8-month-old Miya Rudd. Authorities confirmed that the remains found at the family residence on Friday are likely those of the infant girl.

In a statement, Kentucky State Police detectives revealed that they located an infant’s body consistent with Miya Rudd at 1:15 pm. The decomposing body was hidden in a corner of the cluttered home, which was filled with debris, according to Trooper Corey King of NBC affiliate WFIE in Evansville, Indiana.

“It’s not the outcome we were hoping for, but unfortunately, it was not unexpected,” Trooper King lamented.

Preliminary findings from a medical examiner, including possible identification, are expected to be released as early as Saturday. With this heartbreaking discovery, the search for Miya Rudd has now transitioned into a criminal investigation.

Miya’s parents, Tesla Tucker, 29, and Cage Rudd, 30, along with paternal grandparents Billie J. Smith, 49, and Ricky J. Smith, 56, were all arrested in early June on drug charges. Another individual, Timothy L. Roach, was also taken into custody. While the family members are from Reynolds Station, the fifth person, Roach, hails from Owensboro.

The investigation took a dark turn when drugs, including fentanyl pills, were found in plain sight at a Motel 6 where Miya’s parents were located. The pair were also accused of child abandonment. Grandmother Billie J. Smith was apprehended due to an active warrant, while Roach allegedly attempted to discard drugs upon police arrival.

In a shocking development, Miya’s maternal grandparents, Taletha and David Tucker, who had been caring for her siblings, were arrested based on warrants. They were initially held at Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro.

Brodie C. Payne, a man who had been residing with Miya’s parents, was charged with drug trafficking, including methamphetamine, from the residence. He was already in custody on previous drug charges.

State police utilised cadaver dogs to scour the woods near Miya’s home in search of the missing girl. Authorities initially identified her as Maya Tucker, but now seem to be using Rudd as her last name.

During an interview with WFIE, Trooper King revealed that Miya’s siblings had been removed from her home due to drug allegations, and a similar fate was planned for Miya before she disappeared. Tragically, her umbilical cord tested positive for methamphetamine shortly after birth.

Family members reported that Miya was last seen at the end of April. Her parents initially claimed that she had been taken by the state Cabinet for Health and Family Services, but investigations revealed that this was not the case. The search for answers continues as the community mourns the loss of this innocent child..
