Accident – Death – Obituary News : Kentucky State Police have confirmed that the remains found during a search of the family residence of missing 8-month-old Miya Rudd are likely those of the infant girl. The discovery was made on Friday, with detectives locating an infant’s body consistent with Miya Rudd at 1:15 that day. The hidden body was in a state of decomposition, according to the agency.

The remains were found in a corner of the cluttered home, which was described as being full of debris by Trooper Corey King in an interview with NBC affiliate WFIE of nearby Evansville, Indiana. King expressed disappointment at the findings, stating, “Not the results we wanted, but really expected.”

Preliminary findings from a medical examiner, including a possible identification, are expected to be released as soon as Saturday. With the discovery of the remains, the search for Miya Rudd now transitions into a criminal investigation.

The individuals arrested in early June on drug charges, including Miya’s parents Tesla Tucker, 29, and Cage Rudd, 30, are now under further scrutiny in connection with the case. The paternal grandparents, Billie J. Smith, 49, and Ricky J. Smith, 56, along with another individual, Timothy L. Roach, were also taken into custody.

Investigators had initially discovered drugs, including pills containing fentanyl, during their search for Miya at a Motel 6 where her parents were located. The pair faced allegations of child abandonment in addition to drug charges.

In a separate development, Miya’s maternal grandparents, Taletha and David Tucker, who have been caring for her siblings, were arrested based on warrants. The nature of these warrants was not disclosed.

Brodie C. Payne, 28, who had been living with Miya’s parents, was charged with trafficking drugs, including methamphetamine, from the residence. He was already in custody on previous drug charges.

State police had utilized cadaver dogs to search the woods near Miya’s home earlier in the week. King mentioned that state child welfare authorities had removed three of Miya’s siblings from the home due to drug allegations and were planning to do the same with Miya before she went missing.

Miya’s umbilical cord had tested positive for methamphetamine shortly after birth, according to King. Her parents had initially claimed that she had been removed by the state Cabinet for Health and Family Services, but upon investigation, it was found that this was untrue.

The investigation into Miya Rudd’s disappearance and subsequent tragic discovery continues as law enforcement officials work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the infant girl’s death..
