A man from Waco, Texas, has been taken into custody after allegedly attempting to attack a woman with a knife in front of her children as she tried to escape from him. According to an affidavit, Lorenzo Jennings, 42, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence, and two counts of endangering a child.
The incident took place on June 12 in the 800 block of South 11th Street, where police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers observed a man, later identified as Jennings, leaving the residence. Jennings then proceeded to walk northbound on 11th Street, frequently glancing back at the patrol vehicle of the officers.
Subsequently, Jennings allegedly reached into his pockets and threw two knives towards a fence. Although only one knife was recovered by the authorities, Jennings complied with police instructions and was placed under arrest.
Following the arrest, law enforcement officials interviewed the female victim involved in the domestic altercation. The victim recounted how Jennings became agitated when she requested him to leave the premises. In response, the victim, along with her two children and adult friends, entered a vehicle to depart. However, Jennings emerged from the residence brandishing a knife, making threatening gestures towards the victim.
As the victim reversed the vehicle, Jennings reportedly approached and made two violent attempts to strike her with the knife through an open car window. Fortunately, the victim managed to avoid being harmed and fled the scene, narrowly avoiding a collision with a nearby building.
Subsequently, the victim contacted the authorities, leading to Jennings’ arrest. He is currently detained at the McLennan County Jail, with bail set at a total of £35,000.
