Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 20-year-old woman from Williamsburg met with a tragic end when she was struck and killed by a Jeep in Kill Devil Hills in the early hours of Friday morning.

The fatal incident occurred at 1:08 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 158 and Ocean Acres Drive, which is known to be one of the busiest crossings on the Outer Banks. According to police reports, the pedestrian, identified as Ashley Elizabeth Williams, suddenly ran in front of a 2021 Jeep Wrangler that was travelling south on U.S. 158 in the outer lane.

Unfortunately, Williams ran eastward into the highway, directly into the path of the oncoming Jeep. Tragically, she was not using the designated crosswalk at the time of the accident, as confirmed by town police Lieutenant Julie A. Haner.

Regrettably, Williams was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

Upon investigation, authorities determined that neither speed nor alcohol played a role in the incident on the part of the Jeep’s 43-year-old female driver from Kill Devil Hills. As a result, no charges were filed against the driver, as clarified by Lieutenant Haner.
