Accident – Death – Obituary News :

FAIRFAX, Va. (TMX) – Shocking footage has emerged showing the moment an alleged intoxicated driver triggered a collision involving a Virginia State Trooper’s patrol vehicle during a routine traffic stop in the early hours of Tuesday.

The dashboard camera video, released by Virginia State Police on Wednesday, captures Trooper C. Aziz engaging in conversation with a driver, suspected of being impaired, of a sedan that had irresponsibly parked in a travel lane in Fairfax County around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

The sedan can be seen straddling the line between two right lanes, causing a semi-truck to come to a halt in the right lane due to the sedan’s obstructive positioning.

Suddenly, a Jeep collides with the semi-truck, causing the trailer to spin out of control and crash into the trooper’s vehicle. The impact propels the trooper onto the pavement.

Despite the harrowing incident, Aziz miraculously escaped without any broken bones, according to state police officials.

In the video footage, Aziz is seen quickly getting back on her feet and communicating via her radio.

However, state police have indicated that Aziz still faces a challenging recovery journey ahead.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as 35-year-old Joanna Hatch, was apprehended on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

On the other hand, the sedan driver, identified as 43-year-old Erica Bernard, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, obstruction of justice, possession of a Schedule 1 or 2 substance, refusal to undergo a breathalyzer or blood test, and improper stopping of a vehicle on a highway.
