WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Authorities in Whatcom County Superior Court have issued a warrant for the arrest of Brennan Melvin Haggstrom, a 26-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting an acquaintance. The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) investigators have been working diligently to bring Haggstrom to justice.
According to court documents, the incident took place after the victim had been out drinking with Haggstrom and others. The victim reported feeling disoriented after not finishing two drinks provided by Haggstrom. Throughout the evening, the victim alleges that Haggstrom assaulted her multiple times despite her protests and attempts to stop him.
The affidavit of probable cause outlines the charges that Haggstrom is facing in Whatcom County Superior Court, including 1st-degree rape inflicting serious injury, two counts of 2nd-degree assault with forcible strangulation, and indecent liberties with forcible compulsion.
Haggstrom voluntarily came to the WCSO on June 3rd for an interview. However, he stopped answering questions and requested legal representation once the victim’s name was mentioned. Despite being informed of the arrest warrant and advised to turn himself in by June 5th, Haggstrom had not surrendered to authorities as of June 13th.
