Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A resident in Southwest Houston took matters into his own hands when confronted by an alleged home invader on Wednesday. The incident, which resulted in the death of the intruder, is now under scrutiny by a Harris County grand jury.

Authorities were called to the Wilcrest Park Townhome Association following reports of a home invasion around 4:15 p.m. Preliminary investigations suggest that a struggle ensued after the intruder forced entry into the tenant’s apartment.

The tenant, a 26-year-old man, was reportedly shot at least once in the leg during the altercation. However, he managed to gain control of the gun and fatally shot the intruder. Both men were found by HPD patrol officers with gunshot wounds.

Emergency services were quick to respond, with the Houston Fire Department paramedics transporting both individuals to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the intruder succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The tenant, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, is currently cooperating with authorities. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has been notified and is set to conduct a thorough review of the case.
