Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident occurred at a resort hotel in the Mexican beach town of Puerto Peñasco, where a Texas man lost his life after being electrocuted in a jacuzzi. The man, identified as 43-year-old Jorge N., was enjoying the outdoor jacuzzi with a woman named Lizeth N. when they were both shocked by an electrical current on the evening of June 11.

According to the Sonora State Attorney General’s Office, the woman was rushed to a U.S. hospital in critical condition following the incident. While the victims’ origins were not specified in the official statement, a local TV news station reported that the deceased man hailed from El Paso, Texas.

The cause of death in this tragic case has yet to be officially determined, as Sonora state authorities are currently investigating the incident. Electrocutions in hot tubs and pools are not unheard of, with past incidents being attributed to faulty wiring that sends an electric charge into the water.

In the United States, there have been 33 injuries and 33 fatalities resulting from electrocutions in swimming pools and hot tubs between 2002 and 2018, as reported by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Electric shocks in aquatic environments can stem from various sources, including underwater lights, pool equipment, power cords, electrical outlets, switches, and even overhead power lines.

It is crucial for individuals to be aware of the potential risks associated with electrical systems in and around water bodies to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
