Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded at Shaver Lake in California, where a 16-year-old boy lost his life after jumping off a boat. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the boy, identified as Alejandro Araujo, was a junior at Orosi High School.

The heartbreaking incident occurred when Alejandro jumped into the 65-degree water wearing a U.S. Coast Guard Type Two life jacket. However, he had not properly secured the life jacket around his body, causing it to slip off when he entered the water. Despite efforts from those on the boat to locate him, Alejandro could not be found.

Boating deputies patrolling the area were alerted to the situation and immediately responded. The search for Alejandro intensified with the assistance of the sheriff’s office’s dive unit. Tragically, Alejandro’s lifeless body was recovered 15 feet below the surface of the water.

As the investigation into the incident continues, authorities are speaking to witnesses to gather more information about what transpired. Orosi High School also issued a statement confirming Alejandro’s untimely passing and urged families to support their children through this difficult time.

In light of this tragic event, Deputy Erica Covarrubias of the sheriff’s office emphasized the importance of water safety in a video release. Covarrubias stressed the significance of wearing a properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket and avoiding alcohol consumption before swimming.

Furthermore, Covarrubias highlighted potential hazards such as debris in the water and mud at the bottom of lakes and rivers. Swimmers were advised to be cautious of sudden depth changes in bodies of water and to consider the temperature of the water, as it can have a significant impact on swimmers.

Despite the warm weather at Shaver Lake that day, the water temperature remained cold, posing additional risks for swimmers. Social media users also pointed out the potential dangers of cold water, emphasizing the risk of going into shock due to sudden temperature changes.

The tragic loss of Alejandro serves as a stark reminder of the importance of water safety and the need for vigilance when engaging in water activities. As the community mourns his passing, it is crucial to heed the advice of authorities and take necessary precautions to prevent similar tragedies in the future..
