Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 30-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday in St. Thomas on charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, damaging and tampering with a vehicle, and possession of stolen property.

According to court documents, the incident unfolded when police received a call from a man reporting that his WaveRunner had been taken and was being towed by a car along Veterans Drive in late March.

The owner of the watercraft explained to the authorities that it had disappeared from Anna’s Retreat a week prior, but he had refrained from reporting it immediately as he was trying to identify the culprit behind the theft.

Upon intercepting the vehicle on Lovers Lane, the driver, identified as Kareem Casimir, confessed to purchasing the watercraft for $3,000 from a third party about two and a half weeks earlier. However, he failed to provide any documentation for the transaction, and the watercraft had already been partially disassembled.

Another individual, known to Casimir, also arrived at the scene but denied any knowledge of the seller. Both individuals were summoned to provide recorded statements to the Criminal Investigation Bureau on March 29, but they failed to appear. The complainant eventually provided a statement to the CIB months later.

Following further investigation, a detective contacted Casimir on June 5 and instructed him to surrender himself at the Richard N. Callwood Command. Subsequently, a wanted notice was issued by the VIPD, leading to Casimir turning himself in later that day.

Upon his arrest, Casimir was granted bail amounting to $25,000 before being transferred to the Corrections Bureau.
