The devastating incident occurred on May 18 in Watertown Township, resulting in the untimely deaths of John Esch and his family member, Daniel Harris. The two were struck by a car while walking to a relative’s home, with several other family members sustaining injuries, including Esch’s wife.
The driver responsible for the fatal collision, 35-year-old Ashley Marie Monroe, a pregnant mother of four, was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including two counts of Operating Under the Influence Causing Death and two counts of Failing to Stop at the Scene When at Fault Resulting in Death.

Monroe’s bond was set at £1 million, reflecting the seriousness of the charges brought against her.
