(CBS DETROIT) – Michigan Man Fatally Shot After Altercation at Convenience Store

A tragic incident unfolded at a convenience store in Pontiac, Michigan, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Darien Louis Bragg. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reported that Bragg and his girlfriend, also 23, were involved in an altercation with the woman’s ex-boyfriend, a 21-year-old from Pontiac, which led to the fatal shooting.

According to a witness, the 21-year-old was at the counter of the convenience store on Cesar Chavez when he was attacked from behind by Bragg and his girlfriend. The 21-year-old, who was identified as the woman’s ex-boyfriend, was overpowered and fell to the ground with Bragg and his girlfriend on top of him.

As the assault continued, the 21-year-old resorted to defending himself by pulling out a gun and firing a single shot. Tragically, the bullet struck Bragg in the chest, and then passed through his body, hitting his girlfriend in the abdomen.

Following the shooting, the 21-year-old attempted to pay for his items and waited for law enforcement to arrive at the scene. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident, and the case will be reviewed by the prosecutor’s office.
