Authorities in Madison have announced the arrest of two suspects in connection with a shooting incident that occurred weeks ago. The incident took place in the 300 block of Rio Vista Drive, where a man was shot in the chest.

Details of the Incident

According to court documents, the shooting took place on Tuesday, May 28, just after 9:30 p.m. Officers responded to reports of a man who had been shot in the chest at an apartment complex on Rio Vista Drive. The victim was provided aid at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Witnesses at the scene revealed that the shooting stemmed from an argument between the victim and his daughter’s boyfriend, who was accompanied by a friend. During the altercation, the mother of the friend pulled out a handgun and shot the victim.

Following the shooting, the group fled the scene in a vehicle in an unknown direction. The victim was able to identify the suspects involved in the incident.

Arrest of the Suspects

Michelle Thornton, aged 43, was identified as the suspect who possessed a firearm, brandished it at the victim, and fled the scene after the shooting took place. Additionally, 18-year-old Deandrea Thornton was also identified as a suspect by the victim.

Both Michelle and Deandrea Thornton were arrested on Tuesday, June 11, and have been charged with attempted criminal homicide and possession of a firearm. They are currently being held in Metro Jail on a bond of $510,000 each.
