A 36-year-old man from Summit County, Ohio, has caused quite a stir in the local community after a series of events that unfolded on Wednesday, June 5. The man, identified as Ronald G. Karl, was wanted on several felony warrants, leading to a dramatic chase through New Franklin, Coventry Township, and the City of Green.

Manhunt Begins in New Franklin

The chaos began when a New Franklin police officer attempted to pull over a Ford S-10 on Manchester Road. The vehicle was hauling a homemade trailer with malfunctioning brake lights and turn signals. The suspect, later identified as Karl, made a daring escape by jumping out of the moving vehicle and fleeing on foot.

As Karl ran across Manchester Road, a nearby driver had to take evasive action to avoid hitting him. The pursuit continued as the suspect was spotted running through backyards along Pamela Drive, prompting more officers to join the search.

Search Intensifies in Coventry Township

Despite several reported sightings from residents throughout the day, Karl managed to evade capture. A woman living on Pamela Drive even reported a possible break-in, but the suspect was nowhere to be found. The search turned up only the shirt Karl had been wearing, abandoned in the driveway.

Meanwhile, at the scene where Karl ditched the truck and trailer, officers discovered three other individuals in the vehicle, two of whom were also wanted on warrants. The truck and trailer were found to have fake license plates, and a search of the vehicle yielded various items, including drugs and weapons.

Stolen Hummer Escapade

Less than 24 hours later, a resident in Coventry Township reported his red 2006 Hummer stolen from his driveway on Parnell Drive. The victim immediately gave chase in another vehicle while contacting the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies eventually spotted the stolen Hummer in the City of Green, where Karl once again attempted to flee.

During the pursuit, Karl switched seats in the vehicle, leaped out, and ran into the nearby woods. Law enforcement deployed a K-9 unit to track down the suspect and successfully apprehend him.

Legal Consequences for Karl

As a result of his actions, Ronald G. Karl is now facing charges of grand theft, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, he has been cited for multiple traffic violations, including driving without a valid license and faulty vehicle equipment.

Records from the Summit County Court reveal that Karl has a history of felony charges, including aggravated drug trafficking and failure to comply with police orders. The community remains on high alert as law enforcement continues to investigate this ongoing case.
