Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Emporia, Kan. (WIBW) – A man was taken to an area hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 along the Kansas Turnpike in Chase County, officials said.

The incident occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday on the northbound lane of I-35 on the turnpike, approximately 15 miles southwest of Emporia.

Reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol’s online crash log indicate that a 2011 International 4300 truck was travelling northbound on I-35 when it experienced a blowout. This caused the vehicle to veer off the roadway to the right, or east side, where it collided with a culvert.

The driver, identified as David Parnell, 59, of Topeka, was taken to Newman Regional Hospital in Emporia for the treatment of suspected minor injuries.

Authorities have confirmed that Parnell, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

Single-vehicle accidents can happen suddenly and unexpectedly, often resulting in injuries that require medical attention. It is crucial for drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to all safety precautions while on the road to prevent such incidents.

We wish Mr. Parnell a speedy recovery and hope that he receives the necessary care and support during his time in the hospital.
