A gunman, identified as 39-year-old Joseph Grier, hijacked a commuter bus with 17 passengers on board, setting off a high-speed police chase that spanned multiple counties.
The Police Chase
As police attempted to confront the gunman, Grier held the bus driver at gunpoint and forced the vehicle to speed away. The ensuing chase weaved through highway lanes and suburban streets, with the bus at times colliding with other vehicles and crossing into opposing traffic.
Despite the chaos, a passenger managed to stay on the line with 911 dispatchers, providing critical information to authorities throughout the pursuit. The chase finally came to an end in the suburb of Stone Mountain, where Grier was apprehended without further incident.
Tragic Outcome
During the hijacking, a passenger on the bus was found shot and later succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. The victim’s identity will be released once their family has been notified.
