A resident of Devore has been taken into custody on suspicion of planting an explosive device in a residential area of Rancho Cucamonga last week, as reported by authorities.

The incident unfolded at approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 3, when a suspicious device was discovered in the 9300 block of Lomita Drive, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

For the safety of local residents, the area was promptly evacuated while law enforcement officials successfully disarmed and removed the potentially dangerous device.

Subsequent investigations led to the identification of 52-year-old Brian Carreon as a suspect in the case. He was apprehended on June 7 and now faces charges related to the possession of explosives in a public setting.

During a search of Carreon’s residence, authorities uncovered a cache of chemicals and materials commonly used in the creation of explosive devices. Moreover, the convicted felon was found to be in possession of substances linked to the production of methamphetamine, as well as a stolen firearm and ammunition.
