A man in Phoenix has been arrested after fatally shooting his mother’s boyfriend during a physical altercation on Monday night, according to police reports.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting near the area of 12th and Garfield streets in Phoenix. Upon arrival, authorities discovered 37-year-old Tracy Walker with a gunshot wound to the chest. Walker was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Calyveion Hendrix, allegedly admitted to being responsible for the shooting at the scene, as per the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Eyewitnesses claimed to have seen Hendrix and Walker engaged in a physical altercation before Hendrix allegedly fired his handgun twice, striking Walker once.
Hendrix has since been charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held on a bond of £250,000.
Authorities have stated that no other suspects are believed to be involved in the shooting, but investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
